Blog: War, Fear, and Responsibility – A Call for Sanity

On the night of May 7 2025, India launched "Operation Sindoor," targeting Pakistan. The same night saw a serious escalation, as both nations began violating the ceasefire agreement, exchanging heavy fire along the border. In retaliation to India’s airstrikes, the Pakistan Air Force reportedly shot down five Indian military jets. While Indian officials acknowledged some damage, they refrained from disclosing full details. Meanwhile, local youth in Kashmir claimed to have witnessed and recorded the crash of an Indian jet, sharing the footage on Twitter. Unconfirmed reports suggest those individuals were arrested and charged under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for capturing and circulating the incident.

In the aftermath, fear and uncertainty gripped the people of Kashmir. As drones and missiles began appearing over Srinagar and other regions, anxiety intensified. Many residents feared that a prolonged conflict would bring devastation on a scale similar to what has been witnessed in Gaza—mass displacement, destruction of homes, and widespread shortages of essential supplies like baby food and life-saving medicines.

People began asking difficult questions: What if we are forced to flee our homes? How can families with children, the elderly, and the sick survive in tents or temporary shelters like school buildings? What will happen to our homes, businesses, and everything we've built?

Amidst this growing fear, some politicians irresponsibly promoted war rhetoric, advocating for the capture of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). These voices, seemingly disconnected from the everyday struggles of the people, failed to address even the basic needs of their constituents. Their war-mongering attitude ignored the human cost of conflict.

It is vital that the people of Jammu and Kashmir stand united in rejecting such dangerous narratives. Those who incite war without considering its consequences should be named and held accountable. True leadership lies in protecting lives and preserving peace, not in pushing for destruction. In next Election People should not vote for such people and elect fools as political leaders. India and Pakistan should not make Jammu and Kashmir battle ground and People should discuss these issues with politicians and request the world that force India and Pakistan have Dialogue instead of war.
